I'm going to get some info from my ISP regarding the max. To all: the exact size of the attachment with the photos is 71.83MB. However the time I initially sent the email like mentioned in the opening post, but also the second time while sending to my own alternate mail address, I didn't get such message. Right, I have sometimes received such messages so I know what you're talking about. (see them you said:when the remote server rejects it I usually get an email from their server explicitly stating that it was rejected but this may not always happen. After those 17 minutes while I assume NAV was still scanning the mail, another NAV message popped up in the center of the screen, the second screenshot. During those 17 minutes there was a constant activity on the modem/router combo to be seen, which otherwise doesn't take place. However, this time I changed a setting within NAV to show me the Progress indicator during email scanning After the mail was sent, the progress indicator came up and stayed on the screen during 17 minutes. I made screenshots of it and will try to post them in the ports used are the normal, standard ones 110/25.Īfter I did sent the mail again, this time to myself at my alternate mail address at the same ISP, the same thing happened like I described in my opening post. I've send myself the same message like you asked using a second mail address at the same ISP. I have to reread it once again after the coffee. I'm not sure yet, but it maybe could be indeed the case. I've posted two screenshots I've read the penpublishing link you mentioned. I'm going to try to answer one after the other. I have found that typically when the remote server rejects it I usually get an email from their server explicitly stating that it was rejected but this may not always happen.Īlright, I'm back and I've read the replies. My suspicion is the local ISP but it could be remote as well. If Norton was invloved and scanned the email as it went out, any notification would appear right away. All of that 10 minutes would account for some sort of interaction between the 2 ISP's involved. Norton was the messenger of the notice from your ISP which probably got the message from the ISP of the intended recipient of the email. It sounds like perhpas the recipient of the email might have had a size limitation also since there was such a long period of time involved. The email notice would appear right away also if it did come from Norton, not 10 minutes later. If you are using another port than ports 25 and 110, then the messages are definitely not from Norton. What are the email ports you have to use to send out emails and to receive them? If you are required to use different ports than what Symantec considers as standard ports, then Norton doesn't even scan them. Well, was the message sent or cut off? You aren't going to tell me I should call the client to ask him/her politely if he/she received the pictures, are you? NAV states as Recommended Action: No Action Required.

A hum, just a couple of RAW picture files with a description in. NAV states 'error' : well, if it is an error it was due to NAV2011.ĥ.
